Penetrant Testing (PT) – Level I and II


This method is best suited to locate surface-breaking flaws, such as cracks or pores in non-porous materials. The method is largely used for welds and castings that are typically made from austenitic steel, to which the magnetic testing methods cannot be used on.

 

Course topics include:

 

  • Theories and practices involved with liquid penetrant inspection

  • Equipment, light meters

  • Code & procedure reference

  • Types, forms, and methods are discussed

 

This 16-hour course exceeds the instruction outline and criteria specified in the ASNT Recommended Practice SNT-TC-1A.
